Portrayed brilliantly by a hilarious Renato Pozzetto quarantaquattrenne under the direction of the pair of directors Castellano Pipolo and took care of that subject and screenplay, "The country boy" is a famous comedian of the 1984 film whose title is closely modeled on the moral of the story of "The Country Mouse and City Mouse" greek writer Aesop. film starring Artemio (Renato Pozzetto), a farmer who lives more or less ease, in fact static and anachronistic Borgo Tre Case, a tiny country (invented) in Brianza, near Milan, inhabited only by elderly where the only pastime is to observe the passage of trains.
Artemio lives in a cold house together and paffutissima elderly mother (Clara Colosimo) who would like to see him placed with Mary Rose (Sandra Ambrosini), the only girl in the country for a long time in love with him, though rejected. 
arrived to forty Artemio realizes it never really truly lived a life outside the confines of his little country, realizing they do not want to continue to be a farmer all his life. the wake of his enthusiastic spirit of initiative, Artemio decides to leave everything to move to Milan, but just arrived a traffic policeman in the city seized the means of transport, an old tractor and cumbersome that hinders traffic around the city center.

Soon Artemio, unemployed, penniless and still disoriented in the unusual bustle of the city, is madly in love with Angela: and after several botched attempts to plead with her, even went on to sell their blood to buy her a ring and a marriage proposal, which she promptly refused.
Desperate, Artemio tenta il suicidio gettandosi nel fiume Naviglio, ma viene salvato da un barcaiolo che gli propone di lavorare per lui, vendendo droga ai ragazzi davanti le scuole.
Artemio rifiuta indignato e nell’inveire contro la città e i suoi abitanti spuntando sulle automobili parcheggiate viene fermato dalla polizia che lo rimanda al suo paese.
Ritornato alla sua pacifica esistenza di contadino, un giorno riceve inaspettatamente la visita della bella Angela, che nel frattempo ha scoperto che lui, nonostante la sua goffaggine, è stato accettato a un colloquio di lavoro per diventare assicuratore:
divenuto per lei un "buon partito", la ragazza accetta la sua vecchia proposta di nozze, ma Artemio, conscio dei sentimenti non sinceri della ragazza, decide di sposare l'unica donna che lo abbia sempre e solo amato per quello che è, ovvero Maria Rosa (fattasi, nel frattempo, molto più carina) e di vivere con lei eternamente "contadini e contenti!"
