The king is dead: MICHAEL JACKSON

The 80 have been for him, who became a performer of color "clear" from the 26 years of age, the highest moment of glory, with his sixth album, "Thriller" entered the Guinness Book of World Records 28-strong multi-platinum and 105 million copies sold (updated at the end of 2007), to which are added more than 4 million new copies of the disc (in 2008 passed on the occasion of his twenty-five years) for a total 109 million prints (until last summer).

Of the nine tracks on the album were extracted as many as seven individuals, including Billie Jean, Beat It, Human Nature and especially the title track, accompanied by a video of thirteen minutes, the first for an African American artist, to be broadcast regularly on MTV. At that time, was also released the videotape The Making of Michael Jackson's "Thriller," also sold the most in the history of world music.

other hand, 83 was the year, while performing at the concert Jean Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever , the launch of the "moonwalk" dance step known typically consisting of the Jacksonian move backward to give the illusion of walking forward, as in absence of gravity (hence the name "Walking on the Moon"). The same year also came a promotional agreement with Pepsi Cola and collaboration with former Beatle Paul McCartney (with whom Jackson had already recorded the single The Girl Is Mine from "Thriller") for the song "Say Say Say .

And if the 84 was the moment of "Farewell My Summer Love," the last album for Motown, but did not reach the desired consensus (just 2 million copies sold) In 1985 Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie wrote together the historic We Are the World to raise funds charitable hunger in East Africa: the song, which won a Grammy for song of the year, is still one of the best-selling singles of all time, with assets of more than 20 million copies.

In 1986 it was the turn of the cinema with the Port Jackson on the big screen in the role of protagonist of the film in 3D " Captain EO "by George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola. The film lasted 17 minutes but its cost is between 17 and 30 million dollars. Collections of short were so high as to push Disney to introduce it in its theme parks, hosting the film for nine consecutive years, from 18 September 1986 to April 7, 1997. Nine individuals were also
( I Just Can not Stop Loving You, Bad, The Way You Make Me Fell, Man in the Mirror, Dirty Diana Another Part of Me, Smooth Criminal, Leave Me Alone Liberian Girl and ) extracted from the new album "Bad" from 28 August 1987, another event record maintained by a magnificent world tour, with assets of over thirty million albums sold (as of 2004).

Then the 90's "Dangerous" in '91 with more than 32 million copies distribuite; nel 1994 il matrimonio con Lisa Marie Presley, unica figlia di Elvis Presley, evento pesantemente criticato dai media, che lo bollarono subito come inverosimile trovata pubblicitaria per sviare l'attenzione dell’opinione pubblica dalle accuse di pedofilia che Jackson aveva recentemente suscitato.

Nel dicembre del 1995 il divorzio a poche settimane dalla celebrazione del rito e, nel corso dello stesso anno, la pubblicazione del doppio album HIStory: "Past, Present And Future - Book 1" che divenne il doppio album più venduto della storia della musica leggera; ll 14 novembre 1996 le nuove nozze, anch’esse conclusesi appena 3 anni più tardi, questa volta al fianco della propria ex infermiera Deborah Jeanne Rowed, from which Jackson was - not without a further, massive disapproval from the public and the press - the two children Prince Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. and Paris Katherine Jackson, and finally, in 1997, "Blood on the Dance Floor : HIStory in the Mix ", an album of new songs accompanied by remixes of old glories, still holding the title of best-selling album of remixes of the story.

the new millennium, after the debut album "Invincible" at the top of the charts in 12 countries, opens with Jackson starred in a special ceremony at Madison Square Garden for his thirty years of solo career; In 2003, Sony gives stampe Number Ones, compilation su cd e dvd dei suoi brani più famosi il cui buon indice di gradimento è bissato tre anni dopo, nel febbraio 2006, con la pubblicazione di "Visionary - The Video Singles", contenente 20 dei suoi singoli più conosciuti.

CURIOSITA’:

- Nel 1984, prima di passare allo Shrine Auditorium di Los Angeles, in California, i capelli Jackson caught fire during a commercial for Pepsi Light, causing the permanent loss of hair follicles in the scalp above his left ear.

- In the same year, May 14, Jackson was invited to the White House and was thanked by the U.S. President Ronald Reagan himself for allowing the use of his song, Beat It as background music for promotion of a commercial antialcool.

- In the early 80's the extraordinarily popular Michael Jackson's "moonwalk" was even declined in a number of plastic figures and video games for consoles and PC.

- In the second half of the 80 international tabloids spread the news that Jackson slept in a hyperbaric chamber to keep young forever: it was discovered only later that, indeed, the singer had bought the room on behalf of an American hospital did not have sufficient funds for an investment so hateful.

- At the same time it was rumored that Jackson had tried to buy the Elephant Man's bones (known character in British society of the Victorian era because of his extreme deformity body), gossip, however, categorically denied that earned the artist 'unpopular nickname "Wacko Jacko".

- It seems that, shooting the video for Thriller, Jackson suffered serious eye damage to the retina in danger of permanently losing their sight due to the use of prolonged contact lenses yellow.

- In January 1993 he was first accused of sexual molestation of minors: the first to denounce it was Jordan Chandler, the son of a dentist disbarred in Beverly Hills, which quickly reached a financial settlement the accused for a sum of money ever declared, that would cost, according to some tabloids, around 20 million dollars.
