More than 70 million albums and over 15 million singles sold around the world, not to mention the impressive quantity (over 400) of gold and platinum awarded a full merit: this is the story in large numbers of Roxette, Swedish music duo who achieved full recognition in the late 80s and early 90s being able to bring, first of all, European pop music to conquer the U.S. music market.
The history of Roxette began in 1986 when Per Gessle, Gyllene Tider idol group, decides to join her friend and artistic colleague Marie Fredriksson, singer already established, with the idea of \u200b\u200bcombining voice and guitar, making melodies catchy songs for easy listening.
Their first album, "Pearls of Passion," released only in Sweden, totals over 250 thousand copies. Heralded a success destined not to be late to come back. The following year, "Passion Dance", a remix of songs taken from "Pearl of passion ", launches Roxette even in nightclubs, among the public at night, but leaving the duo still unknown seeds on the international art scene.
The sales boom is repeated again in 1988 with the release of their second album, "Look sharp", which allows Roxette to be discovered and appreciated outside of the mother country, while "The Look" and " Listen to Your Heart "rose to number one in the U.S. raising their success throughout the rest of Europe.
