All of the 80 children, all who, like myself, were born and raised in the decade of pasta Dash and boxes of Lego and have lived in that period their happy childhood, they all will recall the story (and hair) of the legendary He-man, the strongest man in the universe, brought to fame from a popular line of Mattel toys and action figures which was followed by an animated series produced by Filmation between 1983 and 1985.
The story of Prince Adam, son of King Randor and Queen Marlena, bored by the gym liscissima wasters and blonde hair, always lost in teen pastimes and definitely not operating in the field, which is actually the grand He -Man, defender of the secrets of Castle Grayskull and guarantor of peace on the planet Eternia, a land of magic and technology.
Alongside the rest of his friends, "the Masters of the Universe" He-man is spent in the fight against evil to defend the planet from the demonic forces of the evil Skeletor.
To protect his family, Adam keeps his double identity secret: they are the only ones to be aware Sorceress The Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, which gave him the powers, Duncan (Man-at-Arms) chief palace guards and Orko, the little magician bungler.
The greatest power of He-man and physical strength, but what most distinguishes it is the selflessness and sense of right, remarked at the end of each episode by a morality that serves a practical teaching aimed primarily at younger viewers.
Trivia:
- The original animated series consists of two sequels, both manufactured by Mattel, the first in 1990, was "He-man, new adventures," 65 episodes of the 1983 continuation of the story this time set in the distant future on the planet Primus, ruled by the wise Sebrian, with a plot and a style clearly inspired by Star Wars. The second, in 2002, composed of all 39 episodes that reflect the events originating from the start with a modernized style of characters but remained fairly true to the original.
- In this animated series was also produced the film with Dolph Lundgren in the role of He-Man and Frank Langella in the guise of Skeletor, the film is rejected by critics and audiences, now considered a B- movie.
- The first episode created was "The Cosmic Comet", but the first to be broadcast in the United States was instead "Diamond Ray of Disappearance". The last episode was produced "The Cold Zone", written by J. Michael Straczynski (author of, among other famous writer of the TV series Babylon 5), but does not provide an end to history.
- The animation of the cartoon was produced by Filmation in his characteristic style, with its generous use of rotoscoping: the characters faithfully reproduce the positions and movements of real people, with frequent use of sequences of footage, so this cartoon shows a certain monotony of the animation, the studio created symmetrical characters for later use simply by tilting and constantly working the so-called stock, that is, those scenes that were repeated from time to time, perhaps changing backgrounds or direction.
- to replicate the success of He-man with children was then proposed, result of the smaller, the feminine alter ego of the already famous hero of all muscle and so witty, aka She-Ra, his twin sister, landed on the small screen in 1985 with an initial series of 65 episodes and a second of 28.
- The nickname of Prince Adam is derived from an old expression that a second "He-man" shows a man who is considered a real male, a macho manly. - While the image of He-man is inspired, in part, to that of Conan the Barbarian, the character of Skeletor, with the skull-shaped face, reminiscent of Thulsa Doom, an opponent of Kull of Atlantis in tales of the writer Robert E. Howard.
